XLH UK Interviews gymnast Kieron Innes

We kicked off 2024 chatting with 17-year-old Kieron Innes, a talented gymnast living with XLH. Kieron was diagnosed with XLH when he was already years into his impressive gymnastics journey. In the interview, we hear about some of the tough mental and physical obstacles that XLH has thrown his way.

Kieron’s resilience and optimistic mindset in the face of these challenges are nothing short of inspiring. His story serves as an example of the significant difference that effective treatment of XLH can make and the remarkable achievements that can follow.

Kieron hasn’t let his diagnosis deter him. In fact, in March 2023 he won not one, but three medals at the Men’s Artistic Disability Masters in Liverpool. More recently, he has been training hard with Fusion Gymnastics Wales in Pontyclun for the mainstream Welsh Championships. He has come away from this competition with a new personal best, placing 7th in the U18’s, and 4th overall on floor – clearly all the hard work is paying off!
